As with most governing bodies osha has some very specific requirements regarding how where and when tie off systems and other safety measures must be used to help create a safe working.
Under the standard the requirement for fall protection for this work does not depend on the duration of the fall hazard exposure.
Lay headers sheets of roofing or other materials no closer than 5 feet inside the edges of the roof and parallel to the roofline.
Basically everyone falls under osha 1926 standard now.
It replaces the old directive which allowed contractors to not tie off on certain things like setting trusses.
Place warning lines and headers around the entire roof perimeter.
That all changes in june when this new directive goes into effect.
Install warning lines no closer than 5 feet inside the roof edges and at a height of 34 to 45 inches.
